    Hi all.......
In my eigth grade homeroom they used to play announcements over the loudspeaker. I never paid attention, however on the morning of December 9th, they played a song...Let it Be..which of course we all konw is a Paul song...but a Beatles fan I was, having been raised on Rubber Soul and Seargeant Pepper and all that good stuff. When they announced at the end of the song that "John Lennon was shot dead" some part of my childhood shattered. Somehow John was a kindred spirit. I'd heard his voice my whole life. In the following weeks I read more and more about John and he became sort of an obsession. I began to realize just how much I really related to him and connected to who he was. There was just something about him....24 years later he still feels like an old relative...and as a musician, artist and generally creative soul, he really inspired me in my formative years and continues to do so.

My Mom woke me up and told me that she heard one of the Beatles had been killed. I thought it must be a mistake (I was in 7th grade) so I ran to the TV, where I discovered it was true.

I wept. Swear to Gawd, it really bummed my fry. Each of the 4 walls of my bedroom was decorated witha different Beatle, and John being my favorite had the most elaborate wall.

I went to school shell socked, and came home later to tear my Beatles posters down.

Still, I jhave the White Album poster up. Brought it with me to Korea.

i was eight years old when John died and was sent to the school shrink that February because i had written John Lennon lyrics all over my desk at school.
On October 9th, 2000, David Peel and i played at Strawberry Fields in Central Park...i sent pictures of the show to my parents with the word "Aha!" written on every one....

John Lennon and The Beatles meant a great deal to me when he was murdered. It was the first time that I had lost something that had meant so much. It can still make me cry to this day.
