Those delighting in Lennon's politics will find much to admire in this chat with Tariq Ali and Robin Blackburn...

Re: Lost John & Yoko interview
Thu, December 8, 2005 - 2:14 PMWhat a great man John was, a brilliantly creative and thinking man, to have broken from his past and started anew.
And I never understood why Yoko was so reviled then. I suppose much of it had to do with her being Japanese and the hatred and bitter memories of WWII people harbored 30 years later. (In the '60s and '70s, American movies and tv shows still were fighting WWII, even in the midst of Vietnam.) (Her "breaking up" the Beatles was such a ridiculous charge, I always thought. Relationships change.) Always figured that she must be some kind of woman for Lennon to have loved and admired her. Now, after reading this 34-year-old interview, I understand. She enlarged his view and understanding of things. She made him see better.
Thanks for posting this link, Rockstar. Really enjoyed *hearing* John & Yoko. -

Re: Lost John & Yoko interview
Wed, September 27, 2006 - 9:52 PMI'm so glad it's such a long interview -- I haven't finished it yet, but I'm so looking forward to being able to come back and continue... thanks for posting :)
I esp like the way John doesn't hesitate to speak his own mind, never pulling his punches -- but not just to be right. He makes his point when he thinks the conversation is straying form the truth or the facts... And so well-read... he backs up a lot of what he says with reality and citations - amazing.
In my imaginary dinner party, he and Yoko would be tops on my list!
